The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, SD is an active paleontological dig site, which boasts the largest concentration of mammoth remains in the world!  Our current mammoth count is 61, with 58 Columbian and 3 woolly mammoths.  We hope you will come and tour this unique National Natural Landmark!

Your admission cost includes:

— A 10 minute introduction video

— A 30 minute guided tour around our sinkhole

— Entrance into the Exhibit Hall featuring full size replicas of mammoths and a Giant-Short Faced Bear

Adults: $10.14 + tax

Seniors 60+: $8.29 + tax

Active Military & Veterans:  $7.37 + tax

Children 4-12: $7.37 + tax

The Mammoth Site Pet Policy
Service animals are allowed in all areas of The Mammoth Site. Pets are also welcome to The Mammoth Site. Pets must be leashed and carried or in a carrier while visiting inside The Mammoth site. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding our pet policy.

National Fossil Day at The Mammoth Site 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 12, 2016

A Mammoth Thank You to Kenton Cornish of Scottsbluff, Nebraska for the kind donation of a woolly mammoth femur bone.

The donated bone belongs to a femur of a woolly mammoth that was collected from the North Sea floor during fishing operations. This femur is from the Late Pleistocene.
